Electric Strings - Subway by JadePixi Electric Strings - Subway by JadePixi
Another enviromentally framed high school piece (lol). As you can see by now, my coursework was on music (and I was obssessed with violins;o). Thought it would be cool to have it in a subway with two "street Musicians" framing it and then depict the energy/electricity they create with the instruments (as well as that of the poster above) with light effects around them.

Painting done with acrylic, oil pastel, guache and ink.

The concept is quite good, but the execution needs a lil more care. There are tiny flaws here and there. :D

Well mainly the auras around the violins, the painting's frame and the auras below the feet of the leftmost figure need some more work. :)

Dang, are you prolific or what? You're like the Stephen King of dA (without the hack writing :paranoid: so... not very much like Stephen King after all) Once again, your use of colours astounds me. And the natural 'framing' provided by the two musicians shows some nice composition at work there. Actually, the overall composition is pretty sweet. I like how you've transformed your artwork into a subway billboard. And using predominantly neutral tones for the subway itself mimics the atmosphere of a gallery showing. It sort of implies a blurring between the borders of the 'mundane' world and the art world to me.

The edges of the musicians are a little sharp, but arrgh... it's such a minor thing, I'm loathe to point it out :D

The colours of the painting are wonderfully pure and vibrant; I really enjoyed how you could sense what type of music would be emanating from such a violin. The very concentrated atmosphere you get from the two musicians (in their pose and in their expressions) also emphasises the intensity of the painting. Another thing I appreciate is the contrast between the two musicians: formal, classical cellist and (to me) more eclectic, bohemian street performer. They're nice counterpoints for one another. All in all, another strong, atmospheric work from you

OMG thanx so much hun!! Once again, I really appreciate your expert input - Funny you should mention the sharpness of the musicians edges, as thats been an aspect buggin me since I posted it - perhaps the addition of a slight motion blur would be effective? Anyhoo, you're defin8ly on the ball with everything and therefore my fav watcher:lol:. Catchya L8tr :floating:
